In Tenderfoot’s earliest years, we partnered with farms, restaurants, and universities to host our programming. Shortly before the pandemic, we purchased property, and we’re busily transforming it to serve Tenderfoot’s mission. While the bones of this place are outstanding — existing housing for students, a large kitchen, a cleared field for our garden, a scenic pond, and extensive trails — we have lots of projects underway and planned to realize our full vision for Tenderfoot.
We’d love to involve our community in this building phase, especially students — it’s a phase ripe with learning opportunities. As our name implies, we embrace beginners. If you’re an instructor or student leader interested in getting a group involved in a project, please let us know. Individual students interested in a project can apply for our residential summer internship program. While we have a loose priority order in mind, we’re open to shifting gears if your group has enthusiasm or skills for a particular project. We’re also interested in pursuing collaborative grant opportunities to support projects that mutually serve interdisciplinary learning outcomes and Tenderfoot’s development needs.
